Following the mysterious UFO crashes that occurred in the vicinity of Los Alamos Nuclear Base in New Mexico between 1945 and 1947, it became evident that there is an extraterrestrial presence on Earth monitoring the development of our nuclear energy and atomic bombs.
These events represented a grave warning and a major concern to the U.S. national security and led to the formation of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on September 18, 1947 under an executive order by president Harry S. Truman. Within it, according to newly discovered documents, a top-secret UFO organisation code-named “Majestic-12” or “MJ-12” to monitor any and all UFO activities and conceal information about the Alien presence ‘at all cost.’
In December 1984, TV producer and UFO researcher Jaime Shandera received an anonymous package which contained a black and white 35-millimetre film. When developed, it showed images of classified government documents labelled “TOP-SECRET MAJIC EYES ONLY” that appeared to be a briefing report to President-elect Dwight D. Eisenhower relating to “Operation Majestic-12”.
The documents purported to reveal a top-secret group of 12 elite members who worked under the code name of “MJ-12” and described details of the recovery, analysis and the official cover-up of the UFO crashes in Roswell in 1947.
According to the leaked documents, the MJ-12 group consisted of the following individuals:
Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter: First Director of Central Intelligence (1947-1950).
Dr. Vannevar Bush: Chairman of the Joint Research and Development Board (1945-49). Advisor to the President, and a major contributor in atomic bomb development.
James V. Forrestal: First U.S. Secretary of Defence.
Nathan F. Twining: Commander of Air Material Command at Wright-Patterson Field and later, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the U.S. highest military position.
General Hoyt S. Vandenberg: Chief of Military Intelligence during World War II and second Director of Central Intelligence (1946-1947).
Dr. Detlev Bronk: Biophysicist. Head of the National Academy of Science, and Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board of the Atomic Energy Committee.
Dr. Jerome Hunsaker: Renowned Aircraft Designer and Chairman of the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics.
Rear Admiral Sidney Souers: First Director of Central Intelligence (1946). Appointed first Executive Secretary of the National Security Council in 1947.
Gordon Gray: Assistant Secretary of the Army. Became the National Security Advisor and Director of CIA’s Psychological Strategy Board.
Dr. Donald Menzel: Harvard Professor of Astrophysics, author and debunker of flying saucers. Held a Top-Secret Ultra clearance and was a security advisor to several presidents.
Major General Robert Montague: Head of the Special Weapons Project at the Atomic Energy Commission at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Dr. Lloyd Berkener: Executive Secretary of the Joint Research and Development Board. Member of the CIA-funded UFO Committee in the 1950s.
The only member in the MJ-12 group that seems out of place according to researchers is Dr. Donald Menzel; a Harvard University astronomer, author of three anti-UFO books, and the debunker of major UFO sightings including the Chiles-Whitted encounter. However, in April 1986, Nuclear Physicist, Dr. Stanton Friedman, while investigating the existence of MJ-12, learned that Menzel had a 30-year association with the National Security Agency (NSA), and held a Top-Secret Ultra clearance with the CIA according to his records in the Hardvard University archives.
Among the leaked documents was also a memorandum dated 24th of September, 1947, allegedly written by President Truman to his Secretary of Defense James V. Forrestal. In it, Truman instructs Forrestal to proceed “with all due speed and caution” with “Operation Majestic 12” and that “this matter should rest solely in the office of the president following appropriate discussion with yourself [Forrestal], Dr. Bush and the Director of Central Intelligence.”
According to Shandera, the documents were leaked to him just a few weeks prior to the death of the last member of the Majestic 12 group. At the time, Shandera was collaborating with Friedman, and Bill Moore on a documentary about the Roswell incident, whom he immediately contacted to share his findings. Together, they made their investigation into MJ-12 public during the 12th Annual National UFO Conference in Burbank, California.
Shandera and his colleagues said that they later received a series of other packages the first of which led them to find what is now called the Cutler-Twining Memo while searching declassified documents in the National Archives in 1985.
The documents allegedly appeared to be written by President Eisenhower’s special assistant Robert Cutler to General Nathan F. Twining regarding a National Security Council (NSC) meeting with a reference to MJ-12.
Between 1992 and 1996, another UFO researcher named Tim Cooper also received a number of MJ-12 documents which he had shared with Friedman. Although several of these documents were proven fake, according to Cooper and Friedman, two single-page documents appeared to be genuine.
The first document is a brief instruction to General Nathan Twining regarding his activities during a trip to New Mexico in July 1947.
The second document is a memo to President Truman, dictated by U.S. Secretary of State, George C. Marshall to his Executive Secretary, R. H. Humelsine. While there is no direct mention of MJ-12 in this memo, the reference at the top of the document reads “MAJIC EO 092447 MJ-12”.
Although the authenticity of the documents remains highly debated among the UFO research community with prominent skeptical Philip J. Klass believing the documents to be fake and most likely planted as part of a hoax, Stanton Friedman who dedicated more than a decade investigating the mysteries surrounding MJ-12 concluded in his book, Top-Secret: Majic, “I am convinced that the documents, when carefully and objectively examined, lead to the conclusion that there indeed was an Operation Majestic-12.”
